Solidarity Day

With Solidarity Day we ask that you wear Black (preferably at least a shirt and/or pants) and acknowledge other Black folks, specifically Students within The Ohio State University community.  We proclaim that every first and third Wednesday of each month will serve as Solidarity Day.  THE TIME IS NOW FOR US TO UNITE!!!!

A few things you should consider for Solidarity Day and things that will make it Successful:

  1. When you see a sister or brother on campus, speak to them and acknowledge their presence.
  2. Ask him or her how are they doing and be optimistic and positive.
  3. Do not look away when a sister or brother approaches you.
  4. Be proactive and encourage your sisters and brothers to wear black on every 3rd Wednesday of the month.
  5. Understand that you are a unique part of this campus, community and heritage; without you it will not work!
  6. When you support your sisters and brothers it does not mean you’re anti anyone else.
  7. Let’s show the world that when we collectively put our minds together, we can be successful, we can do anything; let’s start with this initiative.
  8. Sisters respect your sisters and brothers; brothers respect your brothers and sisters.  If we can not do it at this level, we never will be able to achieve respect for one another.

Our ultimate goal is to have all Black students on campus in Black attire (every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month) respecting one another.  It starts with you – Happy Solidarity Day!!!!

“There can be no black-white unity until there is first some Black unit…We cannot think of uniting with others, until after we have first united among ourselves.  We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we first proven acceptable to ourselves
